How We Make a Difference

We are: The United Methodist Church

Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world
Matthew 28:18-‐20 –The Great Commission and Matthew 22:36-‐40 –
The Great Commandment

  1.  Our Purpose
We are here in this place to praise and give glory to God in our worship. We long to come closer to God by growing in our own faith gathering in fellowship and service to others. We are here to love and care for our neighbor in our community and around the world as disciples of Jesus Christ.
  2. Our Principles
We value growing and deepening faith, living after the example of Jesus, commitment to community, and active engagement with and beside the people for whom God calls us to care
  3. Our Promise
We live out our promise to care for our neighbor by our support of CSS (Community Support Systems) providing meat, milk, for clients, and volunteers at the food pantry. We provide Christmas and Easter baskets to our shut-ins, backpacks for children at the beginning of each school year.  We support S.O.M.E.(So Others May Eat) in Washington D. C., making and delivering providing  350 Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches each month. In addition we offer VBS, Sunday school and bible study for children and adults.  We have a relationship with Baden Elementary providing tutoring for children and other support services. We also support and nurture each other. In addition we live out our call to a faith-in-action by participating in Christmas-in-April, Change the World,  and Volunteer in Mission sending teams to help our neighbors in need locally, regionally and globally.
  4. People
We are passionate about our growing connections to our community meaning our neighbors both here and around the world through active engagement with and beside each other serving, and giving, as well as accepting and receiving what others have to offer.  We feel passionate about reaching our immediate neighborhood, children and families, specifically the children of Baden Elementary school.

We believe that all people are children of God. We are passionate about being an inclusive, welcoming and supportive community of faith where all people may share their God given talents and gifts.

We are called to be actively engaged in small group ministries offering people a variety of opportunities to learn and grow, find and forge deep connections and new relationships through small groups like: bible study, bread baking, quilting and needlework groups, personal safety and health workshops, young adult fellowship, book clubs, walking groups…)
